Skill/ Content and Objective:
Description:
1. Students will use the sentence strips to see the AB, AAB, ABB, ABC patterns and work to recreate them using he manipulatives provided.
2. Use recording sheets to show what patterns were created, and label them appropriately (AB, AAB, ABB, ABC).
3. Use the tissues to wipe off previous work when you are done, and then work on another sentence strip (repeat steps 1 and 2 above).

Differentiation Suggestions:
- For children having a difficult time with this assignment, use the M&M's Brand Color Pattern Book to think about patterns. I am not a big fan of using candy to teach math, and while I would not use M & M's for this project, I would use this book to get children to think about patterns in terms of something that they enjoy (M&M's) while recreating these patterns using the station's manipulatives.
- Include a set of magnetic letters that children can use along with their patterns. Putting the letters underneath their designs would be a great way to reinforce the AB, AAB, ABB, and ABC type patterns.
Assessment: Formative and Summative:
- Pattern Recording Sheet
- Recording sheets for the various AB, AAB, ABB, and ABC patterns students developed
- Grid paper (see Assessment link)
- Complete the pattern (see Assessment link)
- I Can list/ recording sheet
